At night, when you need to make a tight turn, Transit Custom helps you with a new optional Cornering Light. It activates at speeds below 30kph, when the steering wheel is turned or indicators operated. The cornering light, positioned at the top of the headlamp, then turns on automatically to illuminate the appropriate side of the road, helping you see it clearly.

The cab of the Transit Custom has plenty of features to assist you in your working life. If you choose a dual front passenger seat, for example, the centre seat is fitted with a fold-out table which is big enough for a laptop or clipboard. You’ll also benefit from class-leading stowage: a hidden stowage area under the dual front passenger seat, offering 93 litres of space; a concealed compartment in the instrument panel for your mobile phone or MP3/iPod (including a 12 volt socket); a glove box in which you can hang A4 folders; and of course, several handy bottle holders and cup holders.

Engineered to meet strict Euro6 emissions standards, the Transit Custom’s all-new Ford EcoBlue 2.0 litre TDCi engines combine outstanding performance and power with lower fuel consumption and emissions, from as low as 6.1 L/100km (46.3 mpg) and 157g/km CO₂. To lower running costs further, service intervals are now up to 60,000kms or 2 years. Available in three power outputs of 105 PS/ 360 Nm, 130 PS / 385 Nm and 170PS / 405 Nm, there’s an option to suit your needs, whether you carry light loads, operate at full payload, or need to tow.

Sensors detect fading light and switch the headlights on automatically to make driving at dusk easier. They also turn on automatically when you enter a tunnel.

The Transit Custom has a unique feature designed to extend its load space. A full height, full width bulkhead divides the load area from the passenger cabin and this bulkhead has a flip-up panel at floor level. This means you can load items up to 3.4m long through the rear doors and into an extended storage area under the van’s dual passenger seats, even in the short wheelbase version. This smart feature enables you to keep valuable materials inside your vehicle, rather than on display on the roof.

A unique, innovative roof rack simply folds flat when not in use. As well as saving you the hassle of bolting on and taking off a conventional rack, it also helps save fuel because of reduced drag and gives you a quieter ride with less wind noise.

Optional super-bright, energy efficient LED lights for the load area are invaluable when you’re working in gloomy conditions. They’re another simple, yet practical, innovation.

A meticulously tuned chassis, substantially stiffened in both front and rear axles, brings excellent levels of stability and control. The benefit is increased, thanks to an optimised, ultra-stiff body structure.
